JWD Ltd specialises in RF PCB design as well as microwave, radio frequency and antenna research used in both commercial and military applications.

Printed circuit boards at radio frequencies are similar to those for normal applications such as computers, DVD players etc. However, the dielectric and loss characteristics of the laminate material have to be carefully controlled, to obtain known impedances in interconnecting tracks. These tracks take the form of microstrip, coplanar waveguide, slotline and stripline, depending on the application and frequency range.

RF Components may be fabricated using PCB techniques, this is known as rf pcb design, such as filters, patch antennas, couplers and power dividers. Some typical board materials are Arlon and Duroid. RF PCBs are usually very thin, with a continuous ground plane on one side. Edge plating and multiple vias ensure proper earthing at RF frequencies.
