Video projects

A synthesised X-band downconvertor for a microwave video receiver.
The microwave circuit was built on 0.4mm FR4 which is possible if there are no tuned components such as filters.
The synthesiser used an Analog Devices PLL IC with a Hittite prescaler and VCO and was programmed
with a FLASH programmable PIC

General view inside the receiver housing
main board removed, showing LNA (Miteq), downconvertor and Ovation digital scrambler unit.
In some transmit applications, the extremely low power consumption of an FM-modulated
DRO is more attractive than a COFDM link, although the digital
transmission gives inherent protection against eavesdroppers.
However, the analog modulated link can be used with an "Ovation" scrambler, which renders the image unreadable and
embeds an audio stream with the scrambled video signal
